(NASHVILLE, TN) August 11, 2011--In this day and age few artists can say that they have had a career in the music industry for nearly three decades, toured the world, sold over 1.5 million albums and have multiple GRAMMY Nominations & Dove Awards under their belt. But celebrated music veteran Geoff Moore can. And after a four year hiatus from recording, Moore is set to release his highly anticipated album, Saying Grace, on August 30, 2011 through a partnership between Simpleville Music and Lucid Artist Distribution.
“The way Geoff sounds on this record, it’s like he’s across the table from you, telling stories, offering reflections, and inviting you into the conversation,” shares producer Don Chaffer (Waterdeep, This Holiday Life, Sevenglory). “It’s the way the writing & recording sessions felt too. Really.”
Saying Grace, which was co-produced by Chaffer and Jeff Pardo (Jonny Diaz, Josh Wilson), is actually as real as it seems. During the writing and recording of the album, Moore (who wrote or co-wrote all the songs on the album) and Chaffer would sit together over meals and talk about their children, and how they hope that the “Story of Love” is the last thing on their kids’ hearts when their parent’s lives are said and done. They unfolded their stories to one another, and marveled at the fact that, in the midst of some of their most painful experiences, when they were at their weakest, their faith seemed the strongest almost despite themselves, and that “The Wonder of Kindness” was woven through it all.
"Saying Grace is an album about thankfulness,” shares Moore. “The last few years God has let me walk some hard roads with people I love. These songs were born of those journeys. My prayer is that they will be good traveling companions. I wrote them to encourage all our hearts that we are loved, and cared for. That on our best, or hardest, days we would be overwhelmed by God's great Love for us. Here's to living a life of thankfulness and...to Saying Grace."
The connection that Moore shares with his fans through his music can be seen through early sales of Saying Grace. In March of 2011 Moore did a soft release of the album in Canada while on tour with Stephen Curtis Chapman. He sold over 5,000 copies of Saying Grace without the help of any retail support, but rather from a handful of shows scattered over a four week timeframe.
While most of his career was spent recording and touring with his band The Distance, Moore decided to go solo in the late ‘90s, returning to his earliest roots in music. One thing remains consistent in all his work – authentic, timely messages based upon a real relationship with God.
But nowhere does Moore more clearly hear the voice of God than through his ministries. Moore is a passionate advocate for Compassion International and this year marks Moore’s 25th anniversary with them as an advocate for their child sponsorship program where he has directly helped over 50,000 children find sponsors.
